A creche is a creative expression of the Nativity scene; it always involves a depiction of Jesus in a manger surrounded by his parents, the wise men, and the barn animals. Every year, Mepkin Abbey throws their signature Mepkin Abbey Creche Festival, which displays a wide variety of different, handmade Nativity scenes from all around the world. This festival generally runs from the end of November until early December. Countless visitors crowd Mepkin Abbey every year to admire these representations of the Christmas story and vote for their favorite ones.

Clare Boothe Luce Library
Home to over 43,000 volumes, the Clare Boothe Luce Library is a massive institution to help educate the public on subjects such as theology, monastic studies, philosophy, and monastic art. This 11,000 square foot monument not only holds books; it also contains rooms for conferences and meetings as well as a rare book room and an archives room. Equipped with the latest technology, the library has many computers as well as a theater for the conference center. You can view the treasures within this center of learning by visiting the library in the ravine under the monastery.
