Lowcountry Marching Invitational
When: Saturday October 3rd, 2009 from 2:00pm – 9:30pm
Where: The Former Wando Highschool Stadium – 1560 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
What: Wando High School and the Wando High School Band Boosters are presenting The LowCountry Marching Invitational, which features 20 marching bands. High School marching bands from 1A to 5A in the region will be competing throughout the afternoon and evening the awards presentation will take place at 9:30pm. There will be plenty of concessions throughout the day including hamburgers, hotdogs, French fries, BBQ, pizza, ice cream, funnel cakes, candy, and cookies, boiled peanuts popcorn, nachos and drinks
Admission: $8.00 for adults (includes a program), $5 for students 17 and under and Free for Children 4 and under

Pickin’ in the Park Bluegrass Festival
When: Saturday October 3rd, 2009 from 1:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: Old Santee Canal Park – 900 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner, SC 29461
What: Reserve the date now for some old-fashioned bluegrass music during this annual fall event. Enjoy some good eats and drinks (sorry no coolers or pets) while you listen to an afternoon of good music. Bring your lawn chairs and the entire family. Vendors will be selling food and beverages and a jump castle will be available for the kids.

Last Band Standing
When: Wednesday October 7th, 2009 – 7:00pm until midnight
Where: Wild Wing Café – 644 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
What: “We are throwing the ultimate battle of the bands! It started with 24 fantastic bands entering the competition. The public has voted and the five most popular bands are left standing.”

Admission: Admission to Wild Wing is FREE but a donation of canned goods to support the Lowcountry Food Bank is appreciated

Goose Creek Fall Music Festival
When: Saturday October 3, 2009 – 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Marguerite H. Brown Municipal Center, 519 N Goose Creek Blvd, Goose Creek, SC 29445
What: Outdoor concert featuring music from local artists. There will be plenty of food, great tunes and even fireworks after the show.

Rocktoberfest

Where: Seewee Outpost, US Highway 17, Awendaw
What: Outdoor concert featuring music from local artists. There will be plenty of food, great tunes and even fireworks after the show.

Admission: $40.00 for the full weekend, ($25 with a valid student ID). Day passes are $15 ($10/student). Free admission with a donation of a new or used instrument. Kids under 12 are free.

29th Annual Taste of Charleston

What:
Taste – Iron Chef Competition will be held Friday, October 9, at the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s (CIC) Palmer Campus in downtown Charleston and will showcase the Institute’s new, $7 million facility, pitting some of the best local chefs in a hot head-to-head battle in CIC’s state-of-the-art amphitheater kitchen.
• Taste of the Kitchen will be held Saturday, October 10, at the Culinary Institute of Charleston’s Palmer Campus in downtown Charleston. There will be fun by the forkful as celebrity chefs take the culinary stage to show how chefs do it and CIC chefs take participants in the kitchens to cook hands-on. Add wine and beer classes and a Taste of the CIC buffet lunch, and you have a full plate.
• Taste of the Arts will be held Saturday evening, October 10, at various art galleries in downtown Charleston. The art walk combines Lowcountry art with the culinary arts and will showcase the talents of local artists while offering guests a sampling of appetizers from favorite Charleston restaurants.
• Taste of Charleston (Main Event) will be held on Sunday, October 11, at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant. The event will showcase a sampling of the taste-tempting delights served at more than 40 of Charleston’s finest restaurants. Additional highlights include the legendary Waiter’s Wine Race, food and wine pairings, a selection of specialty and imported beers, cooking demonstrations, the Best of the Taste contest, live bands on the main stage and a Kids Corner (complete with a petting zoo).

Isle of Palms Connector Walk and Run for the Child

What: 17th Annual IOP Connector Run and Walk for the Child – A 10K and 5K Run and Walk Event. Proceeds benefit the local prevention of child abuse and other child-related programs

The Friends of the Berkeley County Library’s Annual Book Sale
When: Saturday October 3rd from 9:00am until 12:00pm
Where: Berkeley County Library – Moncks Corner Branch

What: There will be a large selection, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, cookbooks, and DVD movies. Most are priced from 25 cents to $2. Donations are still being accepted for the sale and can be dropped off at any branch library in Berkeley County. A tax receipt is available upon request.
