Drew Sineath and Associates would like to thank everyone who attended the Lowcountry Parent Camp and Education Fair last weekend at the Citadel Mall. There were many different types of businesses in attendance that included chiropractors, church groups, Sam’s Club, and more. We were proud to be there to represent the real estate industry. 

We had a great time talking with parents and entertaining the kids. The Drew Sineath booth was equipped with a coloring station, free balloons, and free toys and candy for the kids. Don’t worry, we brought a World Market gift basket for the parents.

We hope everyone there had as much fun as we did meeting the local businesses and watching the performances. Our next festival will be at the Charleston Tea Plantation, Saturday May 16, from 10am to 5pm. We hope that you are able to go and enjoy the fun on America’s only tea plantation.

Goose Creek’s Familar Face, Drew Sineath, was honored this past Tuesday as a REALTOR of Distinction.  According to the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors (CTAR), “The REALTOR of Distinction awards recognize those REALTORS who have achieved high levels of continuing education, Association involvement, and financial success while adhering to CTAR’s strict Code of Ethics. Only a small percentage of the real estate community is eligible for this distinction which honors well rounded professionals who go above and beyond the requirements set forth by the state licensing board and the REALTOR organizations.”

Drew was recognized in the Executive Circle, which is reserved for REALTORS of the highest level. Only 3% of REALTORS in the Tri-County area are honored with this level of distinction. Drew became an independent broker in July of 2007. Despite the media’s portrayal of a slow market, Drew Sineath & Associates, Inc. had their best year ever and they look forward to an even better year in 2009.

The Half-Marathon and 5K run to support the preservation of the Morris Island Lighthouse by Save the Light was held last weekend, February 7, on Folly Beach. Among the 700 runners registered for the event was Lowcountry’s Familiar Face, Drew Sineath. Finishing just over 2 hours (2:03:43 to be exact), Drew was number 173 to cross the finish line.

The Save the Light group is a non-profit organization formed to save the Morris Island Lighthouse from being swept away at sea. The lighthouse dates back as far as 1673. The structure as we know it today was built in 1876 after being destroyed in the Civil War to prevent the use by Union troops as a look out tower. It was not until 1938 when the lighthouse reached the water’s edge. With waves crashing in, the housing complex was dismantled and the lighthouse was automated.

Save the Light bought the historical treasure in 1999 and then donated it back to the state of South Carolina in 2000. Since then, they have been working with the US Army Corps of Engineers to have the structure evaluated. Several phases of restoration have been planned. In eight years, the organization has raised over $4.5 million.
