2008 DSA Fall Festival in Goose Creek
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008Hey guys! It has been 10 days since our 2nd Annual Drew Sineath & Associates Fall Festival. I didn’t want to even think about the event until now! Although we had a wonderful time, we all spent a lot of time planning this year’s event.
We could have never prepared for the rain we experienced this year — even if this would have been our 10th annual. The rain put us behind on set-up but not in spirit! We had over 400 attendees despite the continuous rain! Who said that the rain was going to stop by 11 am — LARRY!!!!!!
Just kidding. We had all prayed that the rain would hold off. None the less we felt God blessed us this year with a tremendous event. We feel the event made a great impact on the community.
Now for the good news! We raised over 880 pounds of food for the Helping Hands of Goose Creek food bank and $250 in cash! Thanks to all of the sponsors, donors, volunteers and to YOU who attended. We are looking forward to next year. We plan to be bigger, better — and dryer!
If you have any feedback from this year’s event please email me at drew@drewsineath.comor my marketing coordinator Kristen Lanier at kristen@drewsineath.com. Let us know how we did.
Thanks to Kathy who personally came by to thank us the Monday following the event. Kathy is new to the area and thought the event was wonderful. Thanks Kathy for the words of inspiration!
I want to personally thank Kristen and Marea Clark, my closing coordinator, for all of their hard work. We met each week for over 4 months to plan this event. I also want to thank Kristen’s mom, Carmen Orvin, for the wonderful job she did coordinating the food station. That is the one area that we made great strides on this year as opposed to last year.
I am truely blessed to have such a wonderful staff that put together a great group of volunteers. We could have never been able to get up and started without the help of the many volunteers that gave of their time on October 18. I am told the food tent saved the day. Thanks Mr. Orvin!
I would like to recognize each volunteer that helped make this year’s event special: James Lanier (great job on the raffle ticket holder), Stephen Orvin, Stevie Orvin, Kayla Lofton, Laura Massee, Ryan Massee (you cotton candy makers – you!), Joann Shane, Matthew Collins, Patricia Quijano (again a wonderful job on the face painting), Teressa Kennedy (how about another real estate broker lending a hand!), Debbie Chavis (way to be stingy on the drinks, girl!), Dana Ward, Max Boger (heck of a job on the trash!), Norma Boger, Sandy Roderick, Marty Guinn, Pete Heusinger (thanks again for your wonderful support!), Sharon McCann, David McCann (thanks for helping out again u 2!), Jan Quiniff (nice turtle neck!), Loraine Sapp (great brownies), James Sineath and of course my wonderful, loving mother, Lin Sineath (bad knee and all)!
I hope I haven’t missed anyone. Be looking out for information on next year’s event. We hoped you had a wonderful time. If you didn’t make it but you donated food to one of our 35 drop locations, thank you!
If you didn’t make it because you thought it was cancelled — shame on you! No really, I understand. My feet hurt for days after walking around in the rain for hours! But seriously you missed a wonderful time. Make plans to come to 2009’s event!
Thanks. See you soon! Come back often to check out my latest blog!
