My family and I have had a wonderful summer. We enjoyed the pools being re-opened in Crowfield Plantation and visiting the beach. We had an awesome time Fourth of July week as we spent time at Isle of Palms. My oldest daughter learned how to surf. And my wife and I enjoyed a relaxing week.

Next, came our trip to Washington, D.C., where we were able to visit the Smithsonian Institute of Natural History, walk the mall, see the White House and spend time at the Vietnam War Memorial and new World War II memorial. Speaking of our veterans, continue to prayer for our soldiers: for the families of the soldiers who have lost their lives, those that have made it back but are crippled and those soldiers that are trying to regroup after serving their time. We owe our freedom to these folks! So thank a soldier the next time you see one eating next to you at a restaurant. Better yet: BUY their meal!

My kids loved seeing the red ruby slippers at the Smithsonian but enjoyed the time with my wife’s sister and husband even more! The National Zoo was awesome as well and a big hit. The Pandas were amazing! And get this: you can now buy paper made out of Panda poo! What will they think of next?

We wrapped up the summer celebrating my oldest daughter’s birthday with a beach birthday party. This time around my youngest daughter learned how to surf! I guess it’s my turn! It was pretty cool seeing a 4-year old surfing. She has amazing balance!

Drew Sineath and Associates seen a steady amount of business through the summer. Showings were down in August, but we are already seeing an increase in offers being made toward the end of this month. We are at 50 closings for the year with four months to go! We will surpass last year’s numbers but are a little behind where we wanted to be for 2010. Still, we are doing better than so many others! I am so thankful for the business and for the great team of agents and staff members that we have. We are so busy that we are looking to hire two more buyers agents and an additional listing coordinator.

The Lowcountry market is remaining steady. Overall closings are up 15 % for the year compared to last year. Overall sales prices are down about 5 % across the board. I think we’ll see more of the same for 2011 as people take advantage of the great prices and wonderfully low interest rates. It is a great time to buy or a great time to sell and buy! Remember: you can never sell in a seller’s market and turn around and buy in a buyer’s market. We are clearly in a buyer’s market. Now is the time to buy! The Jamboree is an annual pre-season fundraiser that benefits the athletic departments of the Berkeley County high schools.  The match-ups begin at 6 p.m. at Goose Creek High School, 1137 Redbank Rd.

Attendees can see all of the Berkeley County teams that went to the State AAAA playoffs last year, including the AAAA Division II Champion Berkeley High School Stags.  The Jamboree is also an important training event for this year’s newly forged teams, allowing them to experience real field play in front of a large crowd, something they have been training for all summer.

The Berkeley County Jamboree is open to the public. Admission is $6 per person at the door, and provides entry to view all seven fifteen-minute match-ups.  Proceeds will be split evenly among participating teams and will go to support their athletic programs.  For information on the
