South Carolina’s Mount Pleasant is Awarded as 2010 ALL American City

The news was announced last week in Kansas City, MO that South Carolina’s own Mount Pleasant wins this year’s All American City award. The city is already doing its best at getting the word out to its residents of its new designation by things such as new road signs and social media outlets like the city’s Facebook page.

In the city’s application video highlights of the community included the revitialization of Coleman Blvd, youth programs like the Jones Center programs teaching children to swim.

Goose Creek Realtor Drew Sineath & Associates Comments on Historic Low Interest Rate for Charleston’s Channel 2 News

When news hit that the interest rate dropped again to a new historic low in over 50 years coupled with a report that new home sales decreased by 33%, local realtor Drew Sineath was asked to comment for Charleston’s Channel 2 News. Unfortunately Drew was unavailable so his marketing coordinator, Kristen Lanier, filled in for him.  Watch the video above or read the full story below.

Channel 2 talked to Kristen while she was covering for Drew Sineath & Associates new team members, Bob Winstead and Dianne McLawhorn, at Epcon Communities Marrington Villas at Cobblestone, a new development in Summerville SC offering luxury style detached homes and townhomes, while they trained in Ohio. Mortgage Rates drop: Good news for you

Kristen Lanier is an agent with Drew Sineath Associates in Goose Creek. She works in marketing new homes for the company.

The news that interest rates dropped to a new low today came as a bit of good news in what has been a tough market recently for many agents like Kristen.

She says the lower interest rate helps ease the bad news out Tuesday that new home sales were down 33% in May. Lanier says while the drop is not good, it was expected, since the real estate tax credits are expiring.

She is hoping Congress extends the credits to September. As far as the business in general, she says their company had it’s best year ever last year.

They are hoping to end this year strong as well.

Charleston Battery player and soccer instructor, Kevin Jackson, will host a weekly soccer clinic at CML for kids ages 3-7. The six-session clinic will be held on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. Kevin will lead (with the help of fellow Battery players) one hour of instruction, skills development and play on the front lawn at CML (off John Street). The cost of the World Cup at CML soccer clinic is $65/child for six one-hour sessions.

The instructors include RiverDogs players, coaches and staff as well as trained professionals who work with each group on agilities and coordination for maximum performance. The cost is $150 for three days; from 9-1. There is a fourth day hitting clinic on July 30th. Campers receive a RiverDogs Camp T-Shirt (required to wear each day of camp), a goodie bag, hot dogs & chips Days 1 & 2 and Pizza on Day 3.

Louie’s Kids Hosts 2nd Annual Big Chef / Little Chef Event

The event has attracted Charleston’s top chefs for this one-of-a-kind gastronomic event where guests will taste delicious culinary creations courtesy of the “big chefs” and their “little” counterparts!  From 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, the twosomes will present their creations “Iron Chef” style with samples of their prepared dishes. After guests weigh in, the winners will be chosen by a few celebrity guests – Emmy Award-nominated television host, chef and author, Marvin Woods along with Biggest Loser, Season 6 finalists Heba Salama and Ed Brantley. The contestants will be judged on flavor, originality, and nutritional value of their dish.

Using a Realtor Can Net You 15% More Than Selling FSBO

Every year there are a small number of people who decide to try amature real estate and they often walk away less than satisified. We would call them FSBOs or (For Sale By Owners). These sellers that try to sell their homes without the aid of a licensed real estate in the hopes of saving some money bite off more than they can chew. Not only do these homeowners need to prepare the home for sale according to today’s buyer’s preferences but they have to venture into the land of pricing, marketing, screening, scheduling, showing and paperwork.

The National Association of Realtors researches and surveys these sales every year. For the past six years, their research has concluded that homes sold with a Realtor (R) tend to net the seller an average of 15% more than those homes sold by the owners themselves. It is all a perception game. Check out this excerpt from one of NAR’s articles on the subject. The numbers say it all.

But more telling than the decline in FSBOs is the fact that 40 percent of all FSBOs sold their homes to someone they knew prior to the transaction. This means that only 7 percent of all home sales are open market FSBO transactions. The rest are simply unrepresented sellers in private transactions.

Eighteen percent of FSBO sellers indicated that preparing the home for sale was the most difficult task when selling without the assistance of an agent, followed closely by understanding and performing paperwork (16 percent) and selling within their desired time frame (15 percent).

As for profit — after all is said and done, FSBOs don’t always come out with fatter wallets. Again, the numbers tell the truth.

Homes sold with the help of a real estate professional in 2006 sold on average for 32 percent more than FSBO sales. The median FSBO selling price in 2006 was $187,200, compared with $247,000 for agent-assisted transactions. To read full article, click here.
